OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION - Formula 1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone has a heart?
Yes folks you read it first here! The multimillionaire behind Formula 1 that the Motor Racing world loves to hate recently paid a visit to the Pulmolink exhibition stand and had his pulse rate and oxygen saturation level tested.
And despite his self portrayed image of being a super-human, hard-hearted businessman ruling the sport with a rod of iron, we can confirm he is flesh and blood like the rest of us!
"We have been one of the Motorsport Safety Fund's supporters for a good few years now and help out with sponsorship of the Watkins' Lecture at the Autosport International Racing Car show each year," explained Company Director Derek Pike.
"When we learned that Bernie Ecclestone would be attending the 2006 Lecture to address the audience, we were delighted for the Fund, as it would inevitably continue to raise the profile of safety and medical advances within the sport."
"What we didn't expect was to get the opportunity to meet the man himself, not to mention actually demonstrate our pulse oximeters on him!"
Obviously it would be inappropriate to divulge what readings were recorded for patient confidentiality reasons, but let's just say anyone hoping he'd retire from the sport shouldn't hold their breath waiting!
