Bronchprovocation tests involve the administration of either a "non-specific" pharmacological agent (such as histamine, methacoline or carbacholine) or of a "specific" antigen to which a patient may be sensitive. The MB3 dosimeter allows simple, precise measurement of the resulting bronchospasm.

The MB3 reduces operator intervention to a minimum by computerised control of:

The duration of inhalation of nebulised agent
The duration of pauses between inhalations
The total number of inhalations
