Learn More about Lung Function Equipment
What is Lung Function Equipment?
Lung Function Equipment covers a wide variety of systems designed to perform Lung Function Tests (LFTs), also known as Breathing Tests, or Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs).
These tests usually involve breathing in and out of, or blowing into specialist equipment designed to accurately measure:
- The volume of air that breathed in and out during normal breathing, and during forced manoeuvres
- The flow characteristics of the air as it moves in and out of the lungs
- The concentrations of the gases that are breathed in and out
By analysing the data obtained, it is possible to observe the presence of lung disease, how it affects breathing, and specifically whether the damage is located in the airways, the lung tissue, the chest wall, etc.
