WHAT THE MANUFACTURER SAYS...
The first pack contains 4 of the very latest 5th Generation of AA 2500mAh Ni-MH 1.2V rechargeable batteries for professional use and high drain devices.
If selected as an option, the second pack contains a Smart Quick 1.5 Hour Charger for AA & AAA rechargeable batteries. It has 4 coloured LED's; one for each charging slot. When an LED is lit it means the battery is charging, however different colours show the state of your batteries.
- Red LED means the batteries are 20% charged or less.
- Yellow LED means the batteries are between 20% and 80% charged.
- Green LED means the batteries are 80% or more.
- When the LED goes out the battery is 100%
- Yellow Blinking LED means the battery is worn out and needs replacing
- Red Blinking LED means the battery is not suitable (ie non-rechargeable)
It has a 3-pin UK plug and you can charge one single battery or up to four at one time.
Also included with the charger are a complimentary set of 4 x AA 1900mAh 1.2V NiMH rechargeable batteries. They are the latest low self discharge rechargeable batteries and can retain up to 80% of their charge for up to 12 months. They are also ready to use, however we would recommend giving them a top up charge on arrival to bring them up to 100%.

WHAT WE SAY...
Pulmolink undertook to source a suitable alternative means of powering our two most popular handheld pulse oximeters via rechargeable AA battery power, following customer feedback.
Smartsigns MiniPulse - the manufacturers recommend using 2500 mAh Ni-MH rechargeable batteries in their device.
BCI SpectrO2 30 - the unexpected issue we came across is that not all brands of AA batteries on the consumer market are exactly the same dimensions! Many of the brands we tested actually had too wide a diameter to fit into the SpectrO2 battery compartment and allow the cover to slide shut. Although these are still quite a tight fit, with careful handling, at least the cover can be slid shut.
The next issue was finding rechargeable AA batteries of sufficiently high capacity to last for a similar length of time between charges as the own brand Lithium Ion pack.
Lastly we wanted to find a suitable UK Mains Charger to provide fast recharge times, since the batteries will need to be removed from the oximeter to be recharged.
Our solution is the following package:
- 4. x AA 2500mAh Ni-MH 1.2V rechargeable "high capacity" batteries (in testing, these lasted for approximately 30 hours continuous monitoring in a SpectrO2 30 - an ideal alternative to the WW1090)
- 1. x Smart Quick Charger with integral UK Mains Plug
- 4. x AA 1900mAh NiMH 1.2V rechargeable batteries (in testing, these lasted for approximately 19 hours continuous monitoring in a SpectrO2 30 - a reasonable "back up" set to power the oximeter if the high capacity set aren't available)
